Galliker Junior Day 2024: Successful investment in the future of logistics

Last Saturday, May 25, 2024, the third Galliker Junior Day took place. In summery weather, 580 visitors made their way to the Galliker site in Altishofen, including 250 young people. The event offered the young guests a unique opportunity to experience the professional world of transport and logistics up close and take a look behind the scenes, to talk to current apprentices and trainers at interactive stands and, as an absolute highlight, to sit behind the wheel of a truck or forklift themselves.

Sustainability is multi-layered - in addition to our commitment to the environment through the increased use of renewable energies, Galliker is therefore also investing in future employees and young talent. Young people are trained in 17 apprenticeships at the family business - a wide range of different career opportunities. To highlight the many opportunities in the Galliker world of work and introduce future apprentices to them, Galliker holds the Galliker Junior Day every two years. This was also the case last Saturday: exciting hands-on activities were offered at interactive exhibition stands, with which various professions such as road transport specialist, logistics specialist, bodywork plumber, vehicle mechatronics technician, classic apprenticeships in the commercial sector and in IT as well as many other professions in the Galliker world could be discovered.

The highlight: young people at the wheel of a truck

The young visitors were particularly enthusiastic about driving a truck themselves - under safe supervision on a cordoned-off area, of course. Parents and accompanying adults were also able to find out all about the many opportunities and possibilities in the transport and logistics sector. The 16 stands were staffed by dedicated Galliker employees and apprentices, who impressed and inspired the guests with their knowledge and enthusiasm for their professions.

High visitor numbers motivate Galliker for further commitment to training

Rolf Galliker, CEO and COO of Galliker Transport, is delighted with the success of the Junior Day: "Walking through the halls on Junior Day and seeing the many enthusiastic faces and interested parents shows us that we are attracting a lot of interest with the Junior Day. This event is an important investment in the future for us and enables us to get the next generation interested in the exciting professions in the transport and logistics industry. Our employees are at the heart of our company and it is important to us to pass on our knowledge and experience to young talent. However, the great interest in training and further education is not only motivating Galliker to promote its range of apprenticeships - the entire internal training structure will be overhauled in the course of 2024 and given a new umbrella with the "Galliker Academy World". With six different academies, the Driver, Logistics, Transport, IT, Business and Technical Academy, various existing training and further education programs will be refined and expanded in order to offer employees the best development opportunities.

Training programs counteract skills shortage

This year's Galliker Junior Day once again showed how important such events are in counteracting the shortage of skilled workers in the industry and showing young people the diverse career opportunities in logistics. Galliker Transport would like to thank all visitors and participants for an unforgettable day. The entire family business is already looking forward to the next edition of the Junior Day and, above all, to welcoming some of the young visitors back to Galliker as future apprentices.
